During July 2 – 4 Oskars Grigs participated in 3 day PhD course „Measurement, modeling and control in biochemical engineering” organized by European Federation of Biotechnology (EFB) in collaboration with DECHEMA. During course participants were introduced to basic biotechnological process design principles and critical issues to be considered during process scale up. Much attention was payed to bioprocess data analysis and its interpretation. During course participants had ability to work independently with Matlab examples and solve lecturer’s audience tasks. Lectures were held by an international team of experts: Nigel Tichener?Hooker (University College London, UK), Jochen Büchs (RWTH Aachen, Germany), Krist V. Gernaey (Technical University of Denmark, Lyngby, Denmark), Jarka Glassey (University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK), Reiner Luttmann (University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg, Germany) and Volker Hass (University of Applied Sciences, Bremen, Germany).
